SUMMARY AND SUGGESTIONS

As soon as I was told that I would be going to Indonesia for a one month practicum I was overjoyed. Imagine, me? Someone who has always dreamed of going abroad was given a chance to visit another country. Not only do I get to visit, I can observe and learn about their culture, teaching practices and procedures. I was already looking forward to what I knew was a once in a lifetime journey. You probably already know that I am taking up Bachelor of Elementary Education. This means my major is teaching kids in the primary level, grades 1 to 6. I was looking forward to meeting the kids in Elementary school (in Indonesia this is the MI level).

It was a little bit sad that I never got to go to the elementary department of PKP Jakarta Islamic School. I never even got to visit inside, just saw the outside of the building while touring the campus. I didn’t get to interact with the kids in MI. It was disappointing not being able to observe the teaching procedures and processes in my major. But, I did get to experience teaching in junior and senior high school which I will never be able to when I go back to the Philippines. So it was still a win for me. My goal is to always be a better version of myself and my experience being a SEA Teacher is definitely a big leap in making it happen.
